Exams are over and Shaw students are heading home for the holidays. Many students said they are still making plans for what to do when they get home.
“Enjoy it and get ready to come back to the regulars of the next semester, rejuvenate your bodies, come back ready to go,” said Resident Manager Cleveland Williams, who also said he always has a relaxing break.
Senior Daniel Kelly said he plans on giving back during his break. “I plan to help out with the feeding the homeless during the holidays,” he said.
According to Kelly people should do more in their community this holiday in addition to having fun with family and friends.
Sophomore Tony Nunnely agrees, but also said that students have to prepared financially for the holidays. “I want to get a job during the break,” said Nunnely. “I need money for Christmas gifts, but it would be a big help to get some money before Christmas,” said Nunnely.
Financial Aid Manager Lakeshia Hunter said she just plans to take an easy break this year, “having fun with family and friends, nothing more.”
Although students may have several weeks off, student affairs staff remind students that the spring semester is still fast approaching.
“Come back ready for January and for those who haven’t done well this past semester have a resolution that they will do better,” said Williams.
Hunter had a similar suggestion. “Make sure you have everything ready and registration is complete,” said Hunter.
